The success of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) Mobile, which debuted in March 2018, has particularly been game-changing. The company promising to stretch the gaming limits even further. The South Korea-based company has recently teased a new game dubbed ‘PUBG: New State’ that has since sent ‘excitement shocks’ across the industry. While much info is yet to be released concerning the new game, previews from the official trailer promise a futuristic experience characterized by quality and thrill. Characteristic of such moves, the unofficial ‘PUBG Mobile vs PUBG: New State’ battle has also been declared!
PUBG MOBILE 2.0
Gamers have already nicknamed the new version ‘PUBG Mobile 2.0’, given the salient resemblance with the former. However, the two are significantly distinct. While we expect more improvements on PUBG: New State moving forward, we review PUBG: New State current features and highlight the key distinctions between it and the already-in-existence PUBG Mobile game.
PUBG Mobile was released in March 2018 under the PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUND license. Its main strengths include shooting experience, maps, and visual quality etc to provide players with a holistic surreal Battle Royale experience. In game, players equipped with multi-map options land on the battleground and commence a quest for the battle royale title. The more the play zone shrinks, the more intense the battle becomes! Players need to check their heartbeats, secure survival supplies and be on the lookout as the knock-out risk gradually increases.
So far, the game has been overwhelmingly adopted across the globe earning Krafton about $1.2 billion in revenue for the financial year 2019-2020 alone. In some countries such as Pakistan, adoption has been so tremendous that the developer had to deal with bans imposed on the game over ‘addition concerns.’
Meanwhile, PUBG New State seeks to immerse players in a futuristic world set around the year 2051. The new state version will leverage best-in-class gunplay technology to bring players an augmented battle royale mobile game experience. The new release seeks to evolve the game further, moving beyond the conventional game mode and game map options. For instance, unlike for PUBG Mobile, PUBG: New State players should be able to immerse in a post-apocalyptic experience characterized by battlegrounds across neon-lit vehicles, empty shopping malls and futuristic weaponry. The new game is also set to feature interactive objects, the details of which have so far remained scanty.
PUBG studio also announced the conclusion of PUBG New State’s Closed Alpha with pre-registration on the Google Play Store. Surpassing 20 million users-something Krafton refers to as a ‘significant milestone’. While New State is set to be launched in 2021, pre-registration is expected to globally commence this August. The pre-registration is except for Vietnam, India and China, where Krafton is yet to give launch updates. In the meantime, the maker is focused on releasing the iOS version of Battlegrounds Mobile India.
The key feature differences between PUBG Mobile and PUBG New State include; the backdrop, ultra-modern gadgets, map options, and weapons customization.
1.) The game backdrops
The PUBG New State background is set in the future, around the year 2051. BR players will now be able to employ the modern technology installed to edge their enemies. This will include a variety of modern weapons that players can leverage for a competitive advantage. The players will also be able to dive right into the game by parachuting onto a futuristic open world battleground. Google Play Store’s description of the game reads in part, “unique mechanics introduced in PUBG: NEW STATE includes drone calls, support requests and manoeuvrability.”
PUBG Mobile, on the other hand, lacks the futuristic touch, and players use just the regular guns to defeat rivals.
2.) The ultra-modern gadgets
One of the most exciting features about the PUBG New State is its obsession with modern weaponry and futuristic technology. Some of the exciting ultra-modern gadgets at New state’s disposal include search drones with the ability to locate and expose far hidden targets, maneuver capabilities and modern missile launch attachments. Also available for players will be the green flare gun capable of reviving fallen colleagues.
Unfortunately, PUBG Mobile lacks the modern and futuristic setting with players only limited to the red flare gun, which they can only use to command a special airdrop.
3.) The map options
The map setup in PUBG New State PUBG Mobile differ significantly. In the New State version, players will initially be able to play with just one map. The map will be called ‘Troi’ and will span 8 by 8 Km- also referred to as the battleground. There will be a variety of instruments available to navigate the terrain, including buggies, bikes, and ultra-modern vehicles available at the display. The map will also offer immense indoor experiences characterized by shopping complexes and malls.
Meanwhile, PUBG Mobile has about five maps that vary in size. The initial maps include: Sanhok (4*4) km; Vikendi (6* 6) km and Miramar and Erangel (8*8) km. It also boasts a recent addition of two maps; Karakin and Livik-all of which span 2*2 km.
4.) Weapons customization
In PUGB New State, players will have the freedom to develop their weapons using a special customization kit. New State’s press release reveals that “With a new in-game weapon customization feature. Gamers can make various weapons on their own by obtaining customization kits. With these kits, gamers will be able to buff up and transform their weapons across a wide array of preferences, including grenade launcher attachments, ballistic shields, fire modes, performance enhancement options and more.
While the customization toolkit is exclusive to the new release, the PUBG Mobile version seems to contain an element of the attachment. In theory, however, the attachment in PUBG Mobile lacks the feel and touch that the new release customization kit is set to offer.
